Audit and Reinvigorate Your Marketing and Communication Resources

Apply the Confirmation Process to ensure greater impact. At the start of the New Year, an audit might help you address how to reinvigorate your Communications and Marketing activities in upcoming months. As you may recall, The Confirmation Process has three steps, from the user’s perspective. The person who lands on your website or LinkedIn profile seeks to confirm that you:
  1. are the same professional they heard about, read an article by or heard speak
  2. have the knowledge and skills to solve their problem
  3. have the trust of your clients and the respect of your colleagues.
In this audit of your Communications and Marketing resources, you may analyze how well they comply with the Confirmation Process and take steps to improve them. For example:
  • Does your photo convey warmth and accessibility?
  • Does your website provide clear discussions demonstrating that you know the ins and outs of the potential client’s specialization?
  • Do your testimonials reflect successful client projects?
  • Do your published articles and speaking engagements show your stature in the industry?
This audit, with a checklist of a baker’s dozen of resources, has links for guidance so you can confirm and refresh each item. Note, too, how often to update them: Twice Weekly LinkedIn posts Weekly Online references to your name and business Monthly Newsletter or Blog Quarterly Website LinkedIn Profile Email Signature Elevator Pitches (for those in your field and for others outside it) Media Profile (to introduce yourself to reporters) Press Release and Announcement Publish Article in an Industry Magazine Speak at a Workshop, Conference or Networking Group Annually Giveaway Directory Listings Now, after the prospect has read (or heard) any of these, can they easily contact you, by phone or email? Check to ensure those details are clearly visible (and audible) .

This Month’s Tip

Choose. Schedule. Multiply. Maintaining an active presence with all thirteen resources is undoubtedly time-consuming. Start with this reinvigoration and confirmation process. Then, Choose among the items and prioritize, based on your available time and budget, plus the success you recorded with each one. Having made that selection, periodically Schedule an update to ensure the materials are current. Finally, Multiply the content you develop. A panel presentation may become an article for an industry magazine. A summary of that publication is the basis of a social media post and a link to the article is displayed in your email signature. Voila! Four ways to deliver your insights.
